 Mark Zuckerberg is a name that is synonymous with Facebook, the social media giant that he co-founded in 2004. Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, to Karen and Edward Zuckerberg, a dentist and psychiatrist, respectively. He grew up in a Jewish household with three sisters, Randi, Donna, and Arielle.


Zuckerberg developed an early interest in computers and programming. When he was just 12 years old, he created a messaging program called "Zucknet" that allowed his family members to communicate with each other across different computers in their home. He later attended Phillips Exeter Academy, an elite prep school in New Hampshire, where he excelled in literature, fencing, and classical studies.


In 2002, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University, where he studied computer science and psychology. While at Harvard, he created a website called Facemash, which allowed students to compare the attractiveness of their classmates based on their photos. The site was shut down within days after it went live due to privacy concerns and Zuckerberg's violation of university policies.


In 2004, Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard dorm room with the help of his roommates, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. The site initially targeted college students, but it quickly grew in popularity and expanded to include users of all ages and backgrounds.
